Following Telenor, Other Telcos are Also Increasing Call Setup Charges
Just like we anticipated earlier, mobile phone companies are increasing call setup charges. Increment in charges was started by Telenor, and is now being followed by other operators but with certain gap to avoid CCP’s hammer.
For those who don’t know, call setup charge is a fee imposed on each call made by prepaid customers. This charge is regardless of call duration and is imposed on each call separately.
Previously the call setup charge was 12 paisas (including tax) but Telenor increased this charge to 15 paisas (including tax) earlier in March.
Now Ufone has announced that they are increasing call setup charges to 15 paisas from March 25th.
Ufone has posted below update on its website:
Dear Customer, with effect from March 25th, 2016 additional charges on all calls made from Ufone prepaid packages to all local, nationwide, international, PTCL and voice buckets will be charged Rs.0.15 (inclusive of tax) per call instead of Rs.0.12 (inclusive of taxes) per call charged previously.
However, this charge is not applicable on Super Card Plus, Super Card, Mini Super Card and Super Recharge Offer.
Zong, Mobilink and Warid will surely follow suit but within a few weeks
